Studesafe powers student safety. Most missing children go missing in school transit. Studesafe's app-based system tracks students without putting a tracker on them. A missed checkpoint alerts parents, school and police in minutes.
No device on children, ever
Studesafe never puts a location device on the child. Our app only tracks handoffs: student leaves home for bus or carpool, student arrives in school and classroom, student leaves school for bus and carpool, student arrives home.
Studesafe uses a QR code on student ID card. This QR is scanned in the bus, carpool and school. With this, Studesafe tracks last known scan checkpoint of each student. Bus or carpool vehicle driver's app has GPS tracking.
No location broadcasted ever by the student. Nothing for a child to lose, remove or forget to carry.

Home
Parent uses Studesafe mobile app to scan the QR code on their child's ID card at home. Confirms student leaving home.

Bus or carpool driver scans student's ID card on boarding. GPS tracking on driver app updates parents on their child's transit. Confirms student in transit on both forward and return journeys between home and school.

Missed checkpoint
If an expected checkpoint is missed, Studesafe escalates alerts. For example, if a student is checked out at their school's gate but not checked into transit within the stipulated time, the parent, transport coordinator, school administrator, and police are alerted in sequence.

Every confirmed checkpoint is a signal. If an expected checkpoint is missed, the signal has gone quiet. This red signal for Studesafe begins alert escalation to real humans in minutes.
Every minute is precious for a missing child. Missing children are most likely to be found within 24 hours of going missing. Studesafe wastes no time in sending alerts when a student misses their checkpoint.

How is this better than a tracker?
- A tracker is easily lost, removed or forgotten at home. ID-based checkpoint is built into ID cards which students carry everyday.
- Nothing broadcasts a child's location. QR code is only for identity when scanned. This minimizes security vulnerability.
- It works within existing school systems without additional devices, and with minimal training.

Safety that maintains privacy
- QR code on student ID card carries no personal information. Studesafe does not store student ID cards, only QR codes and student names to identify students. No personally identifiable information (PII) stored except name.
- Every account sees only what its role needs: a driver sees their route, a teacher sees their class, a parent sees their own child.
- Built with student data protection in mind from the ground up. Strict data access controls. Data for a student are only stored as long as the student is a current student in a Studesafe-equipped school.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this track my child directly?
No. Studesafe only tracks handoffs, not the child. Transit tracking uses GPS tracking on the driver's phone. The student only carries a QR code on their ID card to identify them when scanned.
What if our school doesn't have scanners?
No scanners required. Studesafe uses mobile camera-based QR scanning on Studesafe mobile app. Optionally, Studesafe connects to a school's existing gate or biometric attendance system.
What happens if a checkpoint is missed?
If an expected checkpoint doesn't occur within its time window, the Studesafe system begins alert escalation. Parents, then the transport coordinator, then school administrator, then the police are informed in sequence. Parents can manually shut down alert escalation if the student is certain to be safe, such as the student using alternative transportation to reach home.
